Sony has recently launched its latest cinema camera, the Sony FX3, in India. The FX3 is part of Sony’s Cinema Line, which also includes the FX6, FX9, and Venice cameras. The FX3 is designed to offer cinematic expression, comfortable solo shooting, and expandability and operability for filmmakers and content creators.

Cinematic Expression

The Sony FX3 boasts a full-frame 12.1 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor that delivers high sensitivity and wide dynamic range. The sensor can capture 4K video at up to 120 fps with 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth and 16-bit RAW output. The camera also supports S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3.Cine for flexible color grading options. Additionally, the FX3 features Sony’s cinematic color science, S-Cinetone, which produces natural skin tones and rich colors.

The FX3 also has in-body image stabilization (IBIS) along with an electronic Active Mode that reduces camera shake and enables smooth handheld shooting. The camera also has a fast hybrid autofocus system that uses 627 phase-detection points and covers 89% of the image area. The autofocus system supports real-time eye AF, real-time tracking, touch tracking, and customizable AF transition speed and AF subject shift sensitivity.

Comfortable Solo Shooting

The Sony FX3 is compact and lightweight, weighing only 640 grams (without lens and accessories). The camera has a magnesium alloy chassis that is dust and moisture resistant. The camera also has a detachable XLR handle unit that provides two XLR/TRS audio inputs, a 3.5 mm stereo jack, and a digital audio interface. The handle unit also has three mounting points for accessories such as microphones and monitors.

The FX3 has a vari-angle 3-inch LCD touch screen that allows for flexible framing and intuitive operation. The camera also has a zoom lever that can control compatible lenses or clear image zoom.
